2020 Run for the Heart
This fall the KU Running Club will be organizing a virtual 5k race to raise money for the Club! Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Club's annual 5k will be held virtually to ensure the health and safety of all runners. This means that competitors can run or walk from any location! The race will be live from Friday, October 2 at 5:00 PM until Sunday, October 4 at 11:59 PM. Once you have completed the race, simply submit your time before midnight on October 4!
Given that the race will be virtual, there will be no registration fee for runners. However, we will kindly accept any donations which will go towards the race's organization and the Club's continued operations. Early donors that pledge over $20 will receive a race t-shirt and the top male and female finishers will receive awards.
The pandemic has made it difficult for the Club to generate revenue for the 2020-21 school year. This virtual 5k will be one of the Club's only sources of revenue this year. For this reason, your generous donations will be greatly appreciated! Using these donations, the Club will be able to continue its success by growing its membership, competing in future races, and holding social events for fellow Club members!
To register, simply join our Strava page and RSVP for the race. We will record all race entries posted to the Strava page over the course of the race's three-day duration. Donations can be sent to our Venmo @kurunningclub. Race t-shirts will be granted to donors on a first come first serve basis—just attach your address and shirt size along with your private Venmo payment and we will send it your way. The KU Running Club greatly appreciates all participation in this year's Run for the Heart 5k and we look forward to (virtually) competing alongside all participants!
